Identity Story
Jacob Nolan Hammel was born on April 20th, 2012, shortly after his father John served in the U.S. Air Force and flew the stealth plane called the F-117 Nighthawk until it retired from combat in 2008. John then became a bold police chief and married a surgeon and former gymnast named Alison. Concerned for Jake's safety as he grows up in (City TBD) exposed to many reports of local criminal activity, his parents train him in the basics of self defense and acrobatics since his age of eight years. Jake's extraordinary courage to utilize his training for something other than for sport is not unlocked until the summer before his freshman year of high school. ​

Just before the summer after his freshman year in high school, Jake was ambushed by a group of three young thugs. One pulled a knife and snatched his wallet, another pulled a gun, and one set his coat ablaze before Jake escapes their grasp. Since that day, Jake took several martial arts courses. His father had hopes for him becoming a better officer/soldier than he ever was, but Jake always had something else in mind that he kept a secret. When he discovers the reappearance of the same group of criminals that he encountered years prior, he decides to act upon his idea of becoming a masked vigilante and fights to take them down. Barely successful, Jake forms a league of vigilantes to further investigate secrets that the criminals struggle to protect.​

Knowing that his mother decided on his first name to be "Jacob" while his father had preferred it to be "Jason," Jake establishes an alter-ego for himself (Jason) to express himself while frequently in the mood to be a badass, cool, confident figure.

NightHawk's original identity, young vigilante Jake Hammel, i​
Jake secretly searches through his father John's case files to see if he has any info about the terrorists, and it turns out that John has a history of capturing them before Jake was born. They escaped prison.​
He becomes the original NightHawk, a symbolic warrior that he adopts after observing a suburban hawk living in his back yard that seemingly has the ability to communicate with him. He builds his battle suit with scrap, then searches NYC for three terrorists: Rux Denver, Henry Wilson, and Frank Gannon. Jake chases them down and never gives up until they are captured . . . or dead.
Because Jake barely survived his first mission, he refuses to continue crime fighting and begins majoring in criminal justice, respecting his father's hopes. However, luckily he keeps his suit for his own safety, because his second mission is to survive the unforeseen plan of an assassin.​
